Water Jet Accessories

Water jet systems consist of numerous accessories, including gem orifices, mixing tubes (abrasive tubes), high-pressure sealing components, etc. Their specific characteristics are as follows:

Orifice

  • High Hardness and Wear Resistance: Typically made of ruby, sapphire, or diamond, it boasts extremely high hardness. This enables it to resist wear caused by high-pressure water flow and the cutting process, ensuring it remains sharp and precise during long-term use while maintaining excellent cutting performance.
  • Small Aperture and High Precision: It features a precisely machined small inner hole, with common aperture sizes ranging from 0.10mm to 0.50mm. The sophisticated manufacturing process allows high-pressure water to pass through the small hole, forming a high-speed, high-density water jet. This guarantees the uniformity and stability of the water flow, achieving high-precision cutting.
  • Chemical Erosion Resistance: It can operate stably in various complex environments and is not easily eroded by chemical substances. Thus, it is suitable for cutting a wide range of materials, including corrosive ones.

Abrasive Tube (Mixing Tube/Focusing Tube)

  • High Wear Resistance: Constructed from ultra-hard materials such as cemented carbide, it can withstand the high-speed scouring and friction of abrasives and high-pressure water. It has a relatively long service life, which reduces the frequency of replacements and improves work efficiency.
  • Precise Dimensional Specifications: The inner hole diameter and length adhere to strict standards, with common inner hole diameters ranging from 0.76mm to 1.52mm. Appropriate dimensions enable full mixing, acceleration, and focusing of abrasives and water, forming a jet with strong cutting force—this has a significant impact on cutting capability and quality.
  • Good Concentricity: It requires extremely high concentricity with the gem orifice to ensure the stability and accuracy of the cutting jet, minimizing cutting deviations and abrasive tube wear caused by eccentricity.

High-Pressure Sealing Components

  • Reliable Sealing Performance: Comprising various O-rings, sealing gaskets, valve stem seals, etc., they are made of high-pressure and corrosion-resistant materials. These components can effectively prevent high-pressure water leakage under ultra-high pressure conditions, ensuring the normal operation of the water jet system and avoiding pressure loss and equipment damage due to leakage.
  • Good Elasticity and Wear Resistance: The sealing material exhibits excellent elasticity, allowing it to adapt to slight displacements and deformations between components. Meanwhile, it possesses a certain degree of wear resistance, enabling it to withstand long-term high-pressure friction and extrusion, thereby extending the service life of the sealing components.

Locking Nut/Compression Cap

  • High Strength and Pressure Resistance: Usually made of high-strength metal materials such as alloy steel, it can withstand the high pressure and impact force generated during the operation of the water jet. This ensures a tight connection between components like the gem orifice, mixing chamber, and mixing tube, preventing loosening or falling off.
  • Precise Thread Fit: The threads feature high precision and match well with the connecting threads of other components. This allows for accurate installation and fastening, ensuring the relative positional precision between various components, which helps improve cutting accuracy.

Valve Stem/Needle Valve

  • Precise Flow Control: It can accurately control the on/off of high-pressure water, as well as the flow rate and pressure of the water flow. By adjusting the opening degree of the valve stem, the cutting force and speed of the water jet can be flexibly adjusted according to the requirements of the cutting material and process.
  • High Hardness and Corrosion Resistance: Manufactured from wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials, it can resist the scouring and erosion of high-pressure water. This ensures its normal operation during long-term use without affecting the precision of flow control due to wear or corrosion.

High-Pressure Tube

  • High Strength and High-Pressure Resistance: Generally made of high-strength, high-pressure-resistant alloy materials such as 316L stainless steel, it can withstand the enormous pressure in ultra-high-pressure environments. This prevents rupture or deformation during the operation of the water jet, ensuring the safe delivery of high-pressure water.
  • Good Flexibility: To adapt to different working scenarios and equipment layouts, it has a certain degree of flexibility and bendability. It can be arranged in limited spaces and can bend and twist along with the movement of cutting equipment—for example, the high-pressure coil of a robotic water jet can bend flexibly as the robotic arm moves.
  • Appropriate Tube Diameter and Wall Thickness: The tube diameter is usually small, with common specifications including 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch. The wall thickness is designed based on different working pressures and usage requirements to ensure the strength and pressure resistance of the coil while meeting the flow and flow rate requirements of high-pressure water.
